Navy Denies Cultural Visits After Nuking Ancient Hawaiian Karst Pond
John Bond, Kanehili Cultural Hui
After extremely destructive million dollar heavy equipment bulldozing, against the advice of the Hawaii SHPD Branch Chief Archaeologist, the Navy continues to refuse entry that would reveal historic and cultural damages.
A much greater area than necessary was bulldozed, knocking down known Hawaiian cultural features. The Navy archaeologist promised before and after to allow consultation and site visits but never kept his promise on anything.
"Ordy" Pond is considered to be a 12,000 year old treasure of very important pre-historic information yet heavy equipment was brought in to crush down the subsurface karst channels and sinkhole areas and destroy native Hawaiian habitation and religious features.
